Southampton Emerges Victorious over Leicester City

Leicester City have suffered their 11th consecutive defeat against Southampton on January 22nd with a 3-0 score at St Mary’s. Southampton, who were defeated in their past four games, have dominated throughout the whole match.

Ward-Prowse initiated the first goal on 26th minute. This was his first goal from the past 22 games.
The second one came from Jay Rodrigues who sent Ward-Prowse’s free-kick into visitor’s net.

They didn’t stop on this and also scored the third one shortly before the end of the match. Dusan Tadic executed successfully his penalty, sealing a clean one-sided victory.

Leicester have conceded 37 goals in this season. This is already one more than in the last one. This defeat leaves them five points over the relegation zone.

Southampton is now on the 11th place in the league table, avoiding fifth successive defeat, which was lastly seen in 1998.

Compared to the last season, Leicester has performed a lot worse. In the corresponding match from the last season, they earned a deserved draw against Southampton. Ranieri was very pleased with their results then and it seemed that they will improve fast. However, in this game, the visitors didn’t galvanize after the first two goals, unlike in the game from the previous season.

Leicester have to start winning quickly if they do not want to begin battling against relegation. They will take the visitors side in four of their next matches, while other two home games will be against Liverpool and Manchester United.
