Partick Thistle wins against DundeePosted: January 3, 2017
On 28th of December Patrick Thistle has secured their win against Dundee at Firhill Stadium, advancing at the 6th place in the Scottish Premiership.
Callum Booth has launched a goal with a free-kick on the 16th minute. The second one came from Doolan, a minute before official break. The goalkeeper Chris Erskine managed to block Scott Bain’s ball, but couldn’t prevent Doolan’s.
Dundee were more active in the second half, but they couldn’t use any chances for their win. They had 3 consecutive wins at the Firhill Stadium till now, but it has stopped there with Thistle’s win. The first minutes of the game happened without any occurrences until Doolan fell on the edge. The referee Alan Muir awarded a free-kick to the home side. Dundee’s captain has protested this decision, but it was already absolute with Booth shooting in to the defensive wall.
On the 44th minute, Bain thwarted Erskine and Doolan advanced knocking the ball home. It has been a hard time for Dundee, who were clearly recovering their skill, given Greg Stewart’s and Kane Hemmings’s leave.
The team’s manager, Paul Hartley, has brought Faissal El Bakhtaoui and Marcus Haber since then, but they couldn’t compensate for the two leavings.
Tomas Cerny has received many shots including two range headers from Haber, but he could deflect them easily.
Dundee needs to improve quickly, as only Kilmarnock have recorded fewer goals in this season. If they don’t manage to pull more goals on their side, they could find themselves in the relegation zone in the new year.
