Manchester United Force Their Win Against FC RostovPosted: March 26, 2017
Manchester United won against FC Rostov with a 1-0 score to claim their advancement into the quarterfinals of the Europa League with a 2-1 aggregate score on March 16th.
Juan Mata made the crucial contribution, scoring in the 70th minute from Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s pass allowing his team to take on the next stage of the Europa League.
United suffered some dangerous moments, especially in the additional minutes, but Sergio Romero saved brilliantly ending the game with a clean sheet. He deflected successfully the first attempt – Sardar Azmoun’s header and the dangerous free-kick that came from Christian Noboa.
They had good chances to score in the first half, but their efforts failed when Ibrahimovic hit the post, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan made a one-on-one wide shot.
This match had many unpleasant moments, and for United, the worst experience occurred when their midfielder Paul Pogba was sent off due to a hamstring injury.
This victory cost United a lot. With the loss of Pogba and Daley Blind, Mourinho will have to come up with efficient formations to perform better in the upcoming matches.
They are currently the sixth in the Premier League, which makes it a nearly impossible challenge to climb to the top. After their recent loss to Chelsea, they could be less confident about it. Europa League’s trophy is the main target of United for now, as here shine to be the most chances, where they could prove their real potential.
