Liverpool wins seconds before time up against Everton

Everton has lost their goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg in the second half, due to injury. They have won just one of their past meetings with their hosting rivals.

Liverpool has advanced to the second place in the Premier League. With Stekelenburg behind the scene and his replacement Joel Robles, they have met better chances.

Sadio Mane has emerged as the hero of the match, firing in the ball in the fourth minute of the additional minutes after the end of the official time.

In the second half, there was a tackle between Ross Barkley and Jordan Henderson, where the Everton midfielder was lucky enough to get away only with a yellow card from the referee Mike Dean.

Liverpool is now six points behind Chelsea and must put in some effort to attain a crucial victory. Many want to see a victory based on grit and not on the flowing football, which has been their trend in this season. They have experienced a 4-3 defeat against Bournemouth and a home draw against West Ham United. Their games at Middlesbrough and Everton ended with away wins, which have become more frequent.

Everton has shown a good game, which has shown their improvement. Their matches have created a record in Merseyside derbies, where they were losing until a 2-0 game against Liverpool in October 2010.

Despite their loss, it seems that Everton are moving in the right direction, yet they still have a lot to work on in the next season.
