Leicester City defeat Liverpool and Move AheadPosted: March 8, 2017
Leicester City won in a match against Liverpool with a 3-1 score on February 27th.
The opener came in from Vardy who launched it low from Marc Albrighton’s pass. The second was shot from Drinkwater, who doubled the score shortly before the end of the first half.
Vardy fired the last one from Christian Fuch’s cross sealing the win for his team. This resulted in his 3rd goal of this week.
Coutinho scored the only one for Reds in the 68th minute, offering his team a consolation goal.
The Foxes showed an outstanding performance in this game ending their run of 5 successive defeats with a remarkable victory.
With this match, Reds’ defeats have increased, losing five of seven previous matches in all competitions. They could climb to the third place in the Premier League table if they won this one. However, they stay on fifth.
The Reds have played 2 matches this month, and this game recurred after a 16-day break, which they used to train in La Manga in Spain. They didn’t look refreshed in any way in this match, playing sloppy and lacking the attack impulse. They are 14 points behind the tops, Chelsea, and don’t seem to battle remarkably for the title as in 2016.
Leicester City has gained an impressive success in the last season. Ranieri has brought amazing results to his team, but despite that, they made some colossal mistakes. They had the worst defence in the English history, which has made them face the fact to be relegated as the first champions since Manchester City was last time in 1938. However, they showed an outstanding performance this time, restoring Ranieri the hope to put his team in the front again.
