Crystal Palace end with a deserved win against AFC BournemouthPosted: February 12, 2017
Crystal Palace gained the victory in the Premier League with a 0-2 score against Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium on January 31st.
Scott Dann fired the opener right after the start of the second time, in the 46th minute. The second one came from Benteke in the injury time, who caught Andros Townsend’s excellent cross.
This was first Palace’s League win under their manager, Allardyce, which they gained on their sixth try. They won the previous league game against Bournemouth in November 1987. However, they earned only 2 points from the possible 24 and are still in the relegation zone.
Bournemouth slid down to the 14th place. They won only one game from seven and are now 7 points above the relegation zone. They have played their 4th successive winless game and are in a dangerous position, as they keep conceding too many goals. In total, they conceded 28 goals from the last 12 matches – in all games. They made only two shots on target in this game missing a good chance when Stanislas fired from Dann’s cross past the post.
Allardyce is famous for assuring a hard to break defence in his teams. His decisions took some time, but it has brought some results, as could be seen in this game. The trio of back defence of Delaney, James Tomkins and Dann worked greatly with the front defence of James McArthur and Yohan Cabaye. The combinations worked out greatly, but the team must be ready to face a new type of challenges and build more advantages like this.
