It was the first time when a team managed to progress into the next stage after a 4-0 defeat in the Champions League first-leg. Barcelona won the second-leg match against PSG with a 6-1 score at Nou Camp on 9th of March.
Barcelona was already heavily pressuring from the first seconds and manifested themselves in the 3rd minute when Luis Suarez launched the opener. Visitors’ side strengthened their defence for the rest of the first half but received another goal shortly before the break when Layvin Kurzawa was the last to touch the ball that came towards the gates of his own side.
Lionel Messi scored a penalty in the early of the second half after Thomas Meunier challenged Neymar.
When Barca had already 3 goals, PSG came out with Edinson Cavani’s goal in the 61st minute to put Barca down with a 5-3 lead until that moment. However, in the last minutes of the match, the home side showed a stunning game that became one of the most prominent moments of all time European matches.
In the 88th minute, Neymar scored the fourth goal from a free-kick that was directed into the top corner. After 3 minutes, Suarez offered him his penalty, which was successfully converted requiring them to score only another one to assure their advancement.
The substitute, Sergi Roberto, sealed the win in the 5th added minute, to move his team into the quarter-finals.
Barcelona achieved a legendary win in this match, that can be compared with very few from the soccer history.
