Arsenal defeat Lincoln City in the FA Cup

Arsenal obtained victory after they played a 5-0 match against Lincoln City progressing into the semi-finals of the FA Cup on March 11th.

Lincoln City showed a good game in the first half being able to withstand home pressure and even muster an effort when Nathan Arnold launched a close shot that was saved by Petr Cech.
In the additional minutes, Theo Walcott opened the score shooting straight. They doubled their score in the 53rd minute with Oliver Giroud’s strike.

The third goal was scored by Luke Waterfall’s own goal when he let Kieran Gibbs’ cross get past the gates. Alexis Sanchez fired the fourth making sure that the visitors’ keeper, Paul Farman won’t be able to touch it. Three minutes afterwards Aaron Ramsey sealed the win collecting Sanchez’s cross.

It was a usual victory for the Gunners with their boss Arsene Wenger, who wants to gain seventh FA Cup since he got in charge of his team. About 200 fans held a demonstration before the game to not let Arsene Wenger get his contract extended beyond this summer, which is still triggering many due to their aggregate score with Bayern.

Despite Lincoln’s loss, they made their advancement into the quarter-finals becoming the first team outside the league to reach this stage for 103 years. They defeated the Premier’s League Burnley and Brighton – who have shown a brilliant performance in the Championship. Lincoln are 88 places below Arsenal, but even with a lost match, they managed to bring glorious results out of this competition, which many couldn’t achieve during hundred years.
